FAQ

Do I need to conduct wind measurements before installation?

Yes, we recommend measuring wind conditions using a meteorological station installed at the target turbine height. Measurements should last 6–12 months to assess investment viability. Data is supported by:

  • Global Wind Atlas (wind speed via satellite data)
  • Meteoblue (wind direction)
  • Geoportal (terrain roughness)

Is my location suitable for a wind turbine installation?

Not every location is suitable. Key factors include:

  • Annual average wind speed and direction
  • Terrain roughness – no obstacles in the immediate vicinity
  • Terrain characteristics – valleys and buildings may cause turbulence Our company conducts individual energy analyses to ensure investment profitability.

What are the rules for placing multiple turbines?

Placement depends on the prevailing wind direction:

  • Perpendicular to wind direction: turbines should be spaced at least 2x the rotor diameter apart
  • Parallel to wind direction: spacing should be at least 6x the rotor diameter

What are the minimum distances from property boundaries?

The minimum distance is 4 meters from the property boundary, measured from the outermost point of the turbine (blade tip).

Do I need a building permit?

  • Yes: If the turbine is installed on a foundation permanently fixed to the ground.
  • No: If the turbine is mounted on a mast without a foundation or on a building’s roof and does not exceed 3 meters above the ridge.

Note: In the absence of a local spatial development plan, obtaining zoning conditions is required.

What are the turbine installation methods?

  • Embedded foundation: Permanently fixed to the ground (requires a permit)
  • Mast with guy wires or no foundation: Requires notification
  • Building roof: Up to 3 meters above the roof without notification; above that, notification or a permit is required

What operating systems can the ECOROTE turbine work with?

  • On-grid: Connected to the grid via an inverter, with surplus energy fed to the grid operator.
  • Off-grid: Supplies local loads (e.g., summer homes) without grid connection.
  • Hybrid: Works with PV systems and energy storage, offering backup or energy independence.

How do I register a turbine with the grid operator?

For grid-connected operation, a micro-installation registration is required:

  • Grid operator application form
  • Inverter and turbine certificates
  • Electrical installation diagram
  • Declaration of compliance with technical conditions and safety standards

What maintenance is required?

  • 9800W turbine: Mandatory annual technical inspection (cost: PLN 500 net + travel)
  • Other models: No regular inspections required, but periodic visual checks are recommended
  • After extreme weather (storms, gales): Inspection is mandatory for all models

What qualifications should an installer have?

  • SEP E and D certifications for electrical work and measurements
  • Construction qualifications for foundations and supporting structures
  • Knowledge of renewable energy micro-installation standards and regulations

Are ECOROTE turbines noisy?

ECOROTE turbines comply with the European PN-EN 61400-11 noise standard. The sound level at 60 meters does not exceed 48 dB – quieter than a normal conversation.

Can I install a turbine on a roof?

Yes, but only for models: 300W, 1000W, 1500W, 2800W, and 5000W.

The 9800W model is not recommended due to its weight (over 1900 kg) and structural load. Roof installations require proper separation from the building’s structure (e.g., rubber mats and spacers).

How does a wind turbine work, and what affects energy production?

While it may seem that a spinning turbine always generates energy, this is not entirely true. A wind turbine has a start-up speed (typically ~1 m/s) at which it begins to rotate. However, electricity production starts at the generating speed, usually around 3 m/s. Higher wind speeds result in greater turbine power output.

What sets ECOROTE turbines apart from competitors?

ECOROTE turbines are 100% Polish products with high reliability, durability (20–25 years), and minimal maintenance needs. Their simple design allows for self-installation, and the vertical-axis (VAWT) technology enables operation in challenging terrain conditions.

Which turbine should I choose for specific needs?

  • Households: 2800W to 5000W turbines are ideal
  • Businesses: 9800W model recommended
  • Small 12V/24V/48V systems (e.g., monitoring, garden lighting): 300W, 1000W models
  • Rooftop installations (including apartment buildings): 1500W, 2800W, 5000W – with proper structural separation

Can a turbine be installed on a prestressed concrete pole without a building permit?

Yes, it is possible with a notification, provided the investment is described as: “Installation of a prestressed concrete pole in the ground as a supporting structure for a renewable energy micro-installation.” It should be noted that the pole will support a micro wind turbine (below 50 kW), exempting it from the “wind turbine law.” Alternatively:

  • Describe as a “hybrid streetlight” powered by a small turbine and, e.g., a PV panel – ideal for parking lots, internal roads, or squares.
  • Describe as an “energy device” if part of technical infrastructure – also subject to notification only. In case of interpretive doubts, consult the local Architecture and Construction Department or obtain an urban planning opinion.
